3 phase (415v) Air Compressors

from £1,199.00 (inc. VAT) for 1

These Air Industrial 3 phase air compressors are for busy, large workshops that have a big demand for air. Fitted with a large 5.5Hp pump unit and set on either a 200 or 270 litre tank these units displace 23cfm of air and provide a FAD delivery of 17.2 cfm. All Tyre Stuff compressors are hand built in the UK to the latest pressure regulations and fitted with a safety valve.

These heavy duty compressors are only available in 3 phase. 3 phase machines operate of a 415v power source. This is completely different to the 240v supply we have in our homes. 415 v is an industrial supply that you may or may not have in your workshop. One of the big advantages of the 415v 3 phase supply is that it can power the larger pump units. This means you can achieve a much faster production of air so that your supply is not interrupted.

It is this 3 phase power supply that makes these compressors able to produce more air than their single phase counterparts.

Tank Capacity

The tank capacity again, needs to marry up with your working practices to get the optimum performance. In the 3 phase air compressors there is not such a big difference in the tank sizes with only 70 litre tank capacity between the two of them. It really comes down to a matter of budget as the slightly smaller tank is a stock tank capacity so is a little cheaper than the 270 litre tank to manufacture.

The extra 70 litres in tank capacity does mean an extra 700 litres of air when stored at 10 bar, so if your budget allows it is always best to err on the side of caution.

Air Compressor placement and pressure drop

When dealing with any air compressor system, thought should be given to where the air compressor is located. When dealing with large distances, pressure drop in the airline can be a big problem. If you imagine water, flowing through a pipe, the speed at which it enters the pipe will not be the speed it leaves. The contact between the pipe and the water causes friction, slowing the water down. It’s exactly the same with air. Instead of a decrease in water flow, you get a drop in pressure. The longer the air travels through the pipe, the more the pressure will drop.

The length of pipe and its internal “roughness” is a major factor but many pipe fittings and joints, tube convergence, divergence, turns, and other physical properties will negatively affect the pressure.

You should always put your compressor in the nearest spot to your main working area where physically possible.
